Growing up my mom always made our birthdays special and I wanted to make sure I did that for Kayleigh too! As I went into her room this morning I had a few tears as I saw my precious baby girl in her cupcake PJ's smile as I sang "Happy Birthday" to her! I stayed up late last night decorating the house to make it perfect for her when I brought her downstairs in the morning. The decorating was worth all the time when I got a "oooooh" this as she pointed and smiled at the balloons and her Happy Birthday sign. She wanted to touch each and every balloon and was excited to see her 1st birthday cards hung on the cupboards. It was so fun to see how excited she was about everything even though she realize it was all for her!
The first birthday is a birthday full of milestones. It's the first day that we celebrate just her, well actually I feel like everyday is about her, but today REALLY is just for her! It's also a big milestone for me too as I have nursed Kayleigh for one year. Luckily nursing came pretty easy for me and I have an amazing support system (Thanks Jeremy and Mom!). On Tuesday I did a little happy dance as it was my last day to pump at work! I have pumped for 52 weeks...wow that is a long time! I am so happy that I have been able to provide Kayleigh with all the nutrition!!
Kayleigh has had 3 birthday celebrations so far and one more this Sunday with my family. On this past Sunday we celebrated Kayleigh's 1st birthday with Papa Charlie, BB, Aunt Lucie, Uncle John, Harrison and Mary Evans. Kayleigh enjoyed playing her in new wagon with her cousin Harrison and of course eating her first bite of cake! She loved the cake so much it was in her hair, on her stomach and even some in her ears! A bath was necessary after that cake eating experience!
Today she had a birthday celebration with her friends this morning. It was a fun morning of playing with toys, eating lunch, eating cupcakes and opening gifts. Kayleigh enjoyed the tissue paper just as much as her gifts! We are blessed to have such good friends that we were able to spend her birthday morning with!
