Happy Mother's Day!
Being a mommy starts the first day you see two pink lines after you pee on a stick and becomes real when you hear that first little heartbeat. It gets exciting when you feel that little baby kick inside you but the most amazing moment is holding that precious baby in your arms for the first time!
When I think about what it means to be a mom..
You put your life aside to focus everything on your child. You want to provide them with everything they need, but especially love. You always want them to feel special and important and know that no matter what you are there to support and encourage them. Being a mom is about kisses and hugs, sometimes even kisses with chocolate or peanut butter left behind on your lips.
Being a Mommy is teaching your child traditions and the importance of family! We teach about Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and cousins and the importance to all of them. We sometimes talk about heaven and how one day we will see our Grandparents in heaven.
It's about teaching meal time prayers, bedtime prayers and to thank God the the wonderful things he has given you. Being a mother is about teaching the ABC's, 123's, silly songs and reading a bedtime story. There is the "rub, pat, and scratch" before bedtime, followed the gift of " an angel, money, a big big rock and some flowers" It's Mommy I need one more kiss before bed, oh wait and another hug before bed. It's kissing boo boo's all better or applying a princess bandaid to make things all better.
It's spending two weeks helping your daughter and son-in-law adjust to a new baby and teaching little things from how to give a sink bath to nursing. It's flying out on a last minute flight to help your daughter with her family and home when she has surgery.
It's sharing exciting news of a new baby, a trophy in gymnastics or the everyday excitement of a 3 year old.
